The lesson on Sunday was given by Sister Miller on the Conference talk by Dallin H. Oaks called, "Desire." It was a very profound topic and I felt one of the things I needed to understand better was developing and increasing our desires. I realized that desire is a precursor to unlock the power of faith. That God will grant us power to become or achieve anything that is expedient in him if we exercise faith in him, but faith is the substance (or the physical fulfillment) of things which are hoped for (Heb. 11:1). If we don't decide and strengthen our hopes and desires, we have already lost the opportunity to exercise this faith to achieve them.
That is why I thought it was key that Elder Oaks pointed out that we must first gain the vision of what and where we hope to someday be in the future, as illustrated in his story of the man who freed himself from an 800 lb rock and hiked to safety only because he saw a vision of himself scooping up his 3 year old child with his one arm and gained the hope and the faith that he could survive to see this fulfilled. He explains, "When we have a vision of what we can become, our desire and our power to act increase enormously."

- We are very sad that Shauna Kelley will no longer be in our presidency but she will now be teaching our lessons once a month and she always does a wonderful job so we are looking forward to that. We also welcome Sister Georgia Wasden into our presidency and we are so grateful for her willingness to sacrifice her time to serve in this capacity.
